Yorktown Hammers Mahopac
11 04 2007Yorktown defeated Mahopac 17-2.
Yorktown has now outscored its past two opponents — Mahopac & Fox Lane — 32-4.
Simply put: They are clicking.
The attack was the big difference for the Huskers this afternoon. The size and power of Kupris, Rannagan and Newman was too much to take for the bewildered ‘Pac squad.
On the defensive end ‘Town was sound. Billy Kelsey stood out the most, stepping in numerous passing lanes and finishing a coast-to-coast short handed-goal.
Houlihan, for the most part, commanded the face-off circle. He was fluid in between the restraining lines, pacing the ‘Huskers’ transition game.
It’s not often that you see an attack unit that has more size and brawn than their own defensive unit. With that said, the over 6 ft. trio of Newman, Kurpis and Ranagan completely dominated the front of the goal this afternoon. Almost all of their goals came from right on the doorstep. They used their size to create openings within the defense. Look for ‘Town to exploit these type of match-ups inside as the season progresses.
